Hello, it’s me.

I started writing this post after having a much needed summer off from a difficult first few months of 2018. But as I wrote the word ‘summer’ I realised it’s mid November, and then when I came back to edit I realised the Christmas lights are up in my town, the heating is on and I’ve taken my almost 2 year old to visit Father Christmas for the first time. It’s now December.

Where has the time gone, so many of us ask ourselves and on a regular basis?

It’s no secret, as I wish for an open forum in life, to enable transparency, trust, positivity and more, but late 2017-spring 2018 came with it’s challenges and after juggling too many balls I wanted and needed to focus my energy on myself and my purposes. As we all do from time to time, right?

However, I can see rainbow for 2019…

Car Seats: Interview with Mothercare and my travel car seat choice

Car seats! (*face palm*) It’s a minefield for all parents-to be right the way through their children’s entire childhood. With regulations often changing, different opinions from various brands and other parents you know AND with so much choice available it’s a daunting experience shopping for probably one of (if not) THE most safety-conscious item you’ll ever buy for your children, right through until their early adulthood.

I remember feeling incredibly overwhelmed and asking lots of friends what car seats they had purchased. I felt uneasy with the responses from those that had bought the most expensive seat on the market (way out of my price range) and also incredibly confused that so many of my mummy friends had opted for a variety of brands and models, there wasn’t a clear ‘winner’ amongst anyone I knew…

I’ve bought all of Henry’s car seats from Mothercare. Our first being the Maxi-Cosi Pebble, then when Henry turned one we chose on the Joie 360 (the rotation on this is just blissful to use!) which we still use everyday – and we also have another car seat – a recent addition which we take on holidays and also for Henry’s Grandma to use on days she looks after him for me. Besides, it’s always useful to have a spare car seat too – more on this later.

For this blog post, I interviewed Mothercare’s head office car buying team, to answer everything you need to know about shopping for a car seat – for any age (and weight of) children.

Afterwards, I share recent details and photos of my latest car seat addition, a Mothercare own branded product, which I absolutely love and highly recommend to have as a second car seat – to use for travel, or for childminders and grandparents – and even for when you’re sharing car journeys with other children etc. It’s actually proven to be really useful…

My top tips for travelling with a toddler…

Preparing for a holiday with a baby is one thing. Travelling with a toddler is a whole other ball game I’ve recently found out for myself.

On our recently holiday to Spain, just before Henry’s 18 month birthday, I referred back to my posts Flying With A Baby For The First Time and What To Pack for a Holiday With a Baby posts for help and to view my checklist.

Most of it was still relevant, but I wanted to share a few new and updated points to consider when travelling with an early stage toddler…

Henry’s summer wardrobe from Next (and packing tips)

While I dusted down some of my old beach dresses, a couple of one piece and tankini saviours (having chucked all my bikinis away – because no one wants to see this midrift) and a few colourful pairs of flip flops and pom pom sandals that make an annual appearance, Henry was loving life on our family holiday to Spain wearing a fabulous summer 2018 wardrobe from Next.*

In this post I’m sharing Henry’s holiday fashion on our recent trip to Spain and also some tips about what clothing to pack for your toddler/kids when travelling abroad during the warmer months.

Having to select just a small number of fun, natural and memorable photos from around 500 I took,  (whilst sifting out about 200 blurry shots – because toddlers don’t sit still for photos) has been a difficult task to say the least…

I’ve linked all of the outfits, including mine, at the end of the post…

Occasionwear from Mamas and Papas

Spring is finally here (I think? I feel like I say this a LOT lately) and the drop of all things “new season” i.e. fashion, wedding themes, travel and other celebrations is upon us. Also, not forgetting, there is an exciting Royal wedding just around the corner (as well as a Royal baby too). One of my favourite baby brands, Mamas and Papas, have launched a new Occasionwear collection for the summer season ahead, bringing us some truly beautiful pieces for your little ones to wear for any celebration.

I was delighted to have been sent a selection of gorgeous clothing from Mamas and Papas, for Henry and his little friend Emilia to model to celebrate the launch.

Shoot day was a lot of fun, and also “cute-overload”, so do scroll down to see our Occasionwear shoot for Mamas and Papas

You may now kiss the bride!! Wedding season is looming, what will your little ones wear?

Our Baby Sensory journey (with brand Q&A)

When you become a mother for the first time, in that first year there are bound to be key highlights that will become memorable landmarks from your early days of motherhood.

For me, one of the things that defines my first year of motherhood was Baby Sensory – a nationwide franchise of mother and baby classes that explores all things “sensory” with your little one.

When Henry came along, I lived in an area where I didn’t have many mummy friends on my doorstop with babies close enough in age to hang out with – those first time mothers equally as unsure as I was about anything and everything about looking after a new baby,  going through the exact same challenges and emotions and at the exact same time. I had my *amazing* sane-saving NCT friends yes, and other mummy friends, but none in close/walking distance and therefore I had to make it my mission to plan a few things in to my week – to regain some normality and structure (not too much too early on though!) and to join a group that I know will prove to offer great benefit to Henry as he embarks on his new life journey.

This post shows you Henry’s Baby Sensory journey in photos as well as a Q&A with the brand itself. I chat to a Baby Sensory leader, giving you ample sensory insight and inspiration, and is especially useful if you’re thinking about joining a local class near you…
