It’s not all about Social Media

Disclaimer: Not a post to blow my own trumpet. For those of you know know me will know that. is. not. me.
This week has been busy (despite the chicken pox hitting my household causing chaos #facepalm) but I’ve been able to secure the following PR for my beautiful clients:
* A radio feature on BBC Essex.
* A two-page editorial (plus cover mention!) in a gorgeous Essex-based glossy magazine.
* A feature in our local newspaper.

Marketing and Me

Hello. 🙂 By day, I am a freelance marketing consultant and provide a variety of marketing services to small businesses and individuals, predominantly based in Essex, UK. I also enjoy the occasional dabble of writing a lifestyle and parenting blog here at flamingomonroe.com and I often “ghost” write/blog for others.

Thank you for finding this marketing section, designed to support the smaller businesses, individuals and brands amongst us, where I try to simplify things as much as I can…

WHAT MY MARKETING BLOG IS:
The intention is for me to have a designated space to share ideas, tips, insight, advice, case studies, suggestions and more, in a lighthearted, friendly, supportive and safe environment.

SERVICES AND KNOWLEDGE I OFFER:
Social media management, copywriting/blogging, brand creative, PR, events, planning, content strategy, attacking creative blocks (i.e. on Instagram), website management (not design or SEO), partnerships and collaborations as well as consultancy appointments and general marketing support.

MY CREDENTIALS:
Marketing is often (unfortunately) self taught and presumed as “common sense” (OUCH towards to those of us with relevant experience, qualifications etc.) Therefore, I feel it’s only fair for me to inform you of my background…

As of 2017 I have been self employed in the freelance marketing world,  working for many brands, individuals and businesses on a retainer, project and consultancy basis.

Before then, my full time employed roles were:
* Head of Marketing – HELLO! magazine – 8.5 years
* Brand and Promotions – News of the World newspaper and being a part of the launch team for their Fabulous magazine supplement (News UK)
* Events and Marketing roles at Hearst magazines
* Marketing roles for a number of beauty brands

Every business and brand is different, and what might work for one person may not be right for someone else. All comments and opinions are my own and therefore I ask you to take my words and comments with a light hearted approach. This is a competitive-free zone.

CLOSED FACEBOOK GROUP:
Like what you see here? Why not join my closed Facebook group where I offer regular tips, advice and ideas, case studies, recommendations and more…

WORK WITH ME:
Drop me an email at flamingomonroe@gmail.com if you’d like to speak to me about some consultancy work, providing social media and/or other marketing support for your business or for yourself, or to book me to speak at an event or to run a marketing workshop for your team.

Thank you for being a part of this community and please do engage, share, comment with your feedback and tips along the way – we’re all in this world of biz together. Fill in the contact form below if you’d like to get in touch!

My biggest learnings and tips from blogging so far

Flamingo Monroe is two years old! I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for two years already. Where does time go?! To celebrate my blog’s 2nd birthday I have decided to write up my biggest learnings and lessons, which hopefully will help fellow aspiring bloggers out there.

Writing this has made me realise that I really should put a lot of my words in to practise…

Happy Birthday to Flamingo Monroe!

Host an event at Ham Yard!

Here in London we are spoilt with the wide variety of event spaces available. However, when organising an offsite boardroom-style meeting, finding the right venue can sometimes be the hardest task because so many options (new and old) quickly become tired from sudden bursts of media/fashion/beauty industry over-usage.

From my point of view (with my creative marketing hat on), you want a new and inspiring location with lots of character – especially when your delegates are a mix of media/creative/marketing roles.
