Spring beauty, all things pink and styling attempts!

Did anyone see the sun lately!? The warmish spring sunshine? I’ve been waiting for the sun to shine and for spring to fully present itself before I did this beauty (spring-related) post. I don’t want to wait any longer so here we go (but if you see the sun, have a word!)…

This post has an honest objective! I’m all about the transparency of personalities. I’ve wanted to start practising my photography and styling more for my blog (note to self to start saving for a decent camera – the iPhone just doesn’t cut it…) and as I had some tulips in the house and some new pretty beauty products to play with I saw an opportunity for a play around! My spare bedroom at home is all white – white walls and a white IKEA furniture (the Malm range which I’m sure we have ALL owned at some point in life!), and so, my spare bedroom has aptly become my home studio!!

10 ways to help yourself

Earlier this year I wrote about how you can help a friend in need (click here if you haven’t seen it) and now on the flip side, I’ve decided to do a post about how you can help yourself.

As most of us know, there are times when you pro-actively choose to take yourself out of life for a little while. There are also times when life hits us with an unexpected blow, chosen for you by the unsettling word that is ‘fate’.

There’s no “professional” or “qualified” perspective here. In my view we can all learn and gain encouragement with a bit of help, advice and experience from others. Sometimes you just have to go through the motions of a rocky road – experiencing the shock, grief, pain and/or sadness – in order to bring yourself out the other (and more positive) side of life. As a recent fortune cookie told me: “You gotta get through the deep valleys before you can reach the highest mountains”.

Here are my top 10 tips and tools I’ve recently tried and tested to aid with all things calm, mindfulness, motivation, positivity and post-recovery (slowly) and all to help with looking forward and returning to normality. I hope this post is of use to you all – whether it’s for yourself or to aid a loved one during a recent rough time…

Smelling of roses

When you’re buying a fragrance – for yourself, to gift a loved one, or to scent a home – do we really consider or care about the top notes, the middle/heart notes and the base notes? It sounds like musical chords creating the scales of a perfect harmony – which is kind of true when it comes to perfume. I guess creating a perfume is kinda clever?!

Unless you are a perfumer or an established beauty/fragrance writer/reviewer/blogger – most of us only care about the finished smell!

For me, perfumes give us such sentimental value and I instantly recognise fragrances worn by those we love, we miss, and also those special times in our lives.

On a shopping spree last week I found myself wandering around in Jo Malone – trying out new scents and experimenting with new layering combinations – I left with a new candle to enjoy in my home, of a scent that reminds me of a very special time.
