Marketing and Me

Hello. 🙂 By day, I am a freelance marketing consultant and provide a variety of marketing services to small businesses and individuals, predominantly based in Essex, UK. I also enjoy the occasional dabble of writing a lifestyle and parenting blog here at flamingomonroe.com and I often “ghost” write/blog for others.

Thank you for finding this marketing section, designed to support the smaller businesses, individuals and brands amongst us, where I try to simplify things as much as I can…

WHAT MY MARKETING BLOG IS:
The intention is for me to have a designated space to share ideas, tips, insight, advice, case studies, suggestions and more, in a lighthearted, friendly, supportive and safe environment.

SERVICES AND KNOWLEDGE I OFFER:
Social media management, copywriting/blogging, brand creative, PR, events, planning, content strategy, attacking creative blocks (i.e. on Instagram), website management (not design or SEO), partnerships and collaborations as well as consultancy appointments and general marketing support.

MY CREDENTIALS:
Marketing is often (unfortunately) self taught and presumed as “common sense” (OUCH towards to those of us with relevant experience, qualifications etc.) Therefore, I feel it’s only fair for me to inform you of my background…

As of 2017 I have been self employed in the freelance marketing world,  working for many brands, individuals and businesses on a retainer, project and consultancy basis.

Before then, my full time employed roles were:
* Head of Marketing – HELLO! magazine – 8.5 years
* Brand and Promotions – News of the World newspaper and being a part of the launch team for their Fabulous magazine supplement (News UK)
* Events and Marketing roles at Hearst magazines
* Marketing roles for a number of beauty brands

CLOSED FACEBOOK GROUP:
Like what you see here? Why not join my closed Facebook group where I offer regular tips, advice and ideas, case studies, recommendations and more…

My biggest learnings and tips from blogging so far

Flamingo Monroe is two years old! I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for two years already. Where does time go?! To celebrate my blog’s 2nd birthday I have decided to write up my biggest learnings and lessons, which hopefully will help fellow aspiring bloggers out there.

Writing this has made me realise that I really should put a lot of my words in to practise…

Rain can take a backseat…let’s all dance in the sunshine!

The new year is nearly upon us, and so I have decided to reflect and learn from the last year. I read the blog post I published  this time last year (click here to read it), and my 2015 objective was to worry less and that I was going to “learn to dance in the rain”!

For me, 2015 still had its occasional battles, personally and professionally. Some I still choose not to share, but a bully in my life, who I thought would never be gone, suddenly became gone. Having been in my life for so long, it took a while to fully digest that I didn’t have to be in their presence ever again. It made me realise how much of my daily worry and life stresses were enhanced by this one awful individual.

FYI Being a bully, an egotistical fool, someone who victimises others and abuses the system, someone who doesn’t lead, inspire or educate and someone who deliberately antagonises , belittles and is mean to others, is not somebody worthy of our effort, friendship or respect.

I do often wonder what will happen if one day I bump in to this particular being…cue Charlotte from Sex & the City “I curse the day you were born!” HAHA!
