We were on a break!

Every time I hear “We were on break”, like you most probably, I picture Ross Geller in F.R.I.E.N.D.S shrieking this caption when trying to justify his behaviour whilst on a relationship ‘break’ from Rachel Green and I am thrilled it inspired the title for Lindsey Kelk’s latest book.

I caught up with the best selling author and someone I’m happy to call a friend (and a fellow cat obsessive). We snapchat our cats to each other, which is TOTALLY NORMAL.

Here Lindsey talks about her new book, blogging, cats (obvs), her beauty faves, WWE, how she has to take it as a compliment when her stories inspire other writers (to quite often write very similar storylines) and more…

Meet the Editor in Chief at HELLO! magazine

Having worked in the magazine world for some 12 years, I have often been asked what it was really like. I’ve been asked “Who’s the worst celebrity you’ve ever met?” and “What is Kate Middleton really like?!” – I am a brand marketer so I’m not often privy (first hand) to all the behind the scenes gossip in the world of celebrity and fashion. I do however, often get asked “Is it really like Devil Wears Prada?”

Don’t be so surprised, some “Devil Wears Prada” types do exist (which can be really boring and laughable), although they don’t tend to be as bad as you might think. They certainly don’t all wear Prada that’s for sure!

Editor in Chief of HELLO! magazine, Rosie Nixon, juggles a full time high profile job whilst being a Mummy to two kiddies under the age of three. Somehow she also finds the time to write. Her debut novel The Stylist came out earlier this year, with a paperback version now out too, and I managed to pin her down for a Q&A here at Flamingo Monroe to chat about the book’s inspiration, an insight in to her career and how to get your work noticed…

My facial at the House of Elemis

I’ve used some products from the skincare brand Elemis for years, and have grown to really adore the iconic British beauty brand – not just from personal use but for my job and blog I’m fortunate enough to work closely with many brands, and Elemis being one of them.

So when I was given a gift card at Christmas (yes I realise it’s nearly summer now!) for The House of Elemis salon in London’s Mayfair I was pretty excited. The card came in a beautiful gift box and included a travel size Elemis product.

When I go to salons I usually opt for a treatment I can’t do (or do well) at home – i.e. nails and massage. But my skin this year hasn’t been the best – a combination of hormones/stress/poor immune system etc at the beginning of the year, mixed in with cold weather and daily pollution has not given my skin the clear and radiant appearance I’d really like, so I decided to book in for a facial…

Spring beauty, all things pink and styling attempts!

Did anyone see the sun lately!? The warmish spring sunshine? I’ve been waiting for the sun to shine and for spring to fully present itself before I did this beauty (spring-related) post. I don’t want to wait any longer so here we go (but if you see the sun, have a word!)…

This post has an honest objective! I’m all about the transparency of personalities. I’ve wanted to start practising my photography and styling more for my blog (note to self to start saving for a decent camera – the iPhone just doesn’t cut it…) and as I had some tulips in the house and some new pretty beauty products to play with I saw an opportunity for a play around! My spare bedroom at home is all white – white walls and a white IKEA furniture (the Malm range which I’m sure we have ALL owned at some point in life!), and so, my spare bedroom has aptly become my home studio!!

Spring/Summer 2016 Wish List

I know my blog isn’t “serious fashion” – there’s enough blogs out there to cover that – but I do like odd piece of fashion… I am allowed to enjoy style even if I am no style icon!

With January far gone (hurrah) and February’s winter chill hopefully coming to an end soon, I’m excited about spring – a new season to brush away the cold cobwebs and either dust down our colourful wardrobes or invest in new finds…
