Here in London we are spoilt with the wide variety of event spaces available. However, when organising an offsite boardroom-style meeting, finding the right venue can sometimes be the hardest task because so many options (new and old) quickly become tired from sudden bursts of media/fashion/beauty industry over-usage.
From my point of view (with my creative marketing hat on), you want a new and inspiring location with lots of character – especially when your delegates are a mix of media/creative/marketing roles.
I’ve always been a fan of the Firmdale group of hotels. I’ve hosted work events at Haymarket Hotel and have entertained many business breakfasts and lunches at Charlotte Street, Soho and Covent Garden hotels. I have also been to a wedding at the Soho Hotel – it’s such a modern yet traditional setting – making a lovely change to the *still gorgeous* big out-of-town rural weddings.
The Firmdale’s range of boutique hotels in London ooze English tradition with a fresh modern twist – each location is identifiable with its unique décor, themes and overall offering across its rooms, restaurants, bars, entertainment, relaxation and event space.
When Ham Yard hotel opened, I was quick to book a site visit (working in marketing for a well renowned magazine, it’s important to keep track of all the newest event spaces in London) and could not wait for my next event to be scheduled so I could host it at this amazing hideaway nestled in the heart of Soho.
Complete with a screening room, a bowling alley, a bar and a variety of quirky-styled meeting rooms, you should definitely check out Ham Yard for your next business function (or personal event if your purse strings allow!).
If not then at least check it out for lunch – the plaice I ate was delicious!
Of course, when booking an event space, it is more than the venue itself – I can highly rate the staff, quality and overall assistance from the hotel to ensure my event ran smoothly. Big tick!
I’d love to hear of your recommended hot spots for when I am next venue shopping!
